History of Kappa-Omega Zeta |
In the fall of 1924, three young men living in Pawling Hall on the campus of
Georgetown College met in their dorm with the idea of founding a new fraternity.
The brotherhood which began with this simple act of friendship, trust and
dedication has blessed and changed the lives of over twelve hundred young men
for more than seventy five years.
This website is dedicated to recording and sharing the story of this brotherhood at Georgetown College, which has been called "The Q.T. Club", "Gamma Tau Alpha", "Theta Kappa Nu", and now "Lambda Chi Alpha". Not all of the story is "good" or "glorious," for any such story is usually only half the truth. It is hoped that by collecting and reading this information that brothers, and others, will develop a stronger understanding of who we are, where we are from, and where we are going.
Any corrections, questions, comments and additions would be greatly appreciated. It is intended that this web site will be continually updated as more information is discovered. Feel free to contact the "editor" at any time.
Yours in Z.A.X.,

This web site is dedicated to the memory of Brother Claude Fiero Shouse,
KW 9, class of 1928. Bro. Shouse was a member of the
first QT Club pledge class and secretary of GTA
during the fraternity's efforts to obtain its national charter. He wrote the
story of the founding of the brotherhood which appeared in the Theta News
at the time of the chartering, and later revised histories of the chapter, making
him our first chapter historian.
Bro. Shouse became a Professor of English/Literature at Georgetown College during the 1930's, and returned in the same capacity in the 1970's, eventually taking a position at San Diego State University where he retired. In the summer of 1987 I was privileged to visit him at his home in San Diego where he sparked my interest in the chapter's history and imparted much information on the brotherhood. Afterwards, we remained "pen pals" for a couple of years. He often sent modest donations to the chapter with his letters, though sometimes making the check out to "Theta Chi Alpha" or "Lambda Kappa Nu". Bro. Shouse was born March 11, 1907, and passed away July 3, 1993. [ref] .
